Martyrs' Tomb of Lu Longfei

The Martyrs' Tomb of Lu Longfei is a cultural heritage site protected by Jinshan District and serves as a patriotic education base.

Lu Longfei, also known as Longchun, was born in 1907 in Chang’an Village, Fengjing Town, Jinshan District. In the summer of 1925, he joined the Communist Party of China. Assigned by the Party, he returned to his hometown to carry out peasant movement activities. Together with Yuan Shizhao, a CPC member and fellow teacher, he taught during the day and traveled from village to village at night, spreading revolutionary ideas against feudalism and local despots, initiating the formation of peasant associations. In the autumn of 1927, Chen Yun was dispatched by the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the CPC to his hometown of Qingpu. Lu Longfei and Yuan Shizhao quickly established contact with Chen Yun and joined forces with the revolutionary groups in Xiao Zheng, Qingpu, to form a peasant revolutionary army, with Lu Longfei serving as commander of the Fengjing Peasant Revolutionary Army. On the evening of January 11, 1928, he and other comrades launched the shocking “Fengjing Uprising,” which reverberated across five provinces in Jiangsu and Zhejiang. Under the name of “The First Independent Detachment of the CPC Songjiang County, Jiangsu Province,” they executed seven despotic landlords who were widely hated by locals, burned their land deeds, IOUs, bonds, and distributed confiscated rice and silver dollars to the poor. On the morning of January 12, news of the peasant uprising spread quickly, and impoverished farmers celebrated the might of the peasant army. A folk song spread through Fengjing and surrounding rural areas: “Communists rise, level the rich, and make landlords weep — seven wolves slain in a single night.” On the early morning of January 19, the peasant army was ambushed and surrounded by the Nationalist army. Lu Longfei led his comrades in fierce combat and covered their retreat until he was ultimately captured due to exhaustion and lack of ammunition. While imprisoned, he persisted in the struggle, demonstrating the noble character of a Communist Party member. On the afternoon of January 26, 1928, Comrade Lu Longfei was executed heroically at Fengjing Wenchang Pavilion.

Lu Longfei (1906–1928), born in Chang’an Village, Fengjing Town. In 1925, while studying at Songjiang No. 2 Middle School, he was influenced by the renowned communist Hou Shaokai and joined the Communist Party of China.
