The Xiuguantun Ruins

The Xiuguantun Ruins are a cultural heritage site protected at the district level in Jinshan District.

The Xiuguantun Ruins are located at the junction of Wei Yi Road and Jin Ling Road in Shihua Subdistrict, commonly known as a beacon tower. In the 19th year of the Hongwu reign of the Ming Dynasty (1386), when the city of Jinshanwei was established, 46 beacon mounds were constructed for military alert purposes, and Xiuguantun was one of them. In the 5th year of the Zhengtong reign (1440), a two-story brick wall was built with a beacon tower on top, surrounded by a low wall. In the 7th year of the Zhengtong reign (1442), it was renamed the Xiuguan Watchtower. By the end of the Ming Dynasty, it had collapsed and fallen into disuse. During the Republican era, only an earthen mound remained. Today, the remaining mound stands 6.5 meters tall and covers an area of approximately 1,520 square meters. It was designated as a Jinshan District-level cultural relics protection unit in 2011.
