The Shanghai Film Museum is a science education base.

The Shanghai Film Museum is located on floors 1 to 4 of the Shanghai Film Group Building at 595 North Caoxi Road, Xuhui District, covering a total area of 15,000 square meters. It is an industry museum that integrates exhibitions and events, visits and experiences, and encompasses functions such as cultural relic collection, academic research, social education, and display. The museum is divided into four major thematic exhibition areas, Studio 5, and one art cinema. The Shanghai Film Museum showcases the charm of a century of Shanghai cinema, vividly presenting the stories of filmmakers, films, and what lies behind them. It is an artistic sanctuary that meets the public's cinematic cultural needs, one of the most important exhibition windows for Shanghai and even Chinese cinema, and is set to become a new cultural landmark of Shanghai.

On the 595 construction site of the Shanghai Film Studio, the Shanghai Film Group Building was constructed as a testament to Shanghai cinema, along with the Shanghai Film Museum. This museum, with an investment of 900 million yuan and a total construction area exceeding 100,000 square meters, is the largest film museum in China. It began trial operations in May 2013 and officially opened during the Shanghai International Film Festival in mid-June. The site was formerly the Shanghai Film Studio compound, which is itself a cultural relic. The yellow building on the left originally belonged to the Convent of the Sisters of Charity, a Catholic nunnery established in 1874. In September 1933, it was purchased by Lianhua Film Company and rebuilt as Studio 3. Its address at the time was No. 3 Triangle Street. After the war, Kunlun Film Company and, in 1957, Haiyan Film Studio were also based here.
