The former residence of Chiang Kai-shek is a cultural tourism attraction.

When Chiang Kai-shek and Soong Mei-ling got married, Soong’s dowry "Ailu" is now part of Sasha’s Western Restaurant and the Shanghai Conservatory of Music Middle School. This French-style garden residence, also known as "Ailu," was built in 1932 and was listed as one of the city’s second batch of outstanding historical buildings in 1994. This French-style garden villa is located at No. 9 Jia’ye’ai Road (now Dongping Road) in the former French Concession. At the time, it was purchased by T. V. Soong as part of Soong Mei-ling’s dowry. The building features the architectural style of a southern French villa. Due to the hot climate near the Mediterranean, such buildings typically have large, open windows. This two-story structure includes a partial fake third floor; its steeply pitched French red tile roof has sharp edges, with some sections designed in the Mansard style. The walls are covered with cobblestones, showing a clear texture. The corner stones are arranged front and back in a fan-shaped pattern, differing from the popular vase-shaped designs of the time. The walls are also adorned with climbing vines that change color with the seasons.
