The Ten Thousand Buddhas Pagoda is located 7.5 kilometers from Fuli Town, Jixian County. It is a place of lush green mountains and clear waters. In your spare time, you can visit the scenic gem of our hometown—Northeast China’s No. 1 Pagoda, the Ten Thousand Buddhas Pagoda at the Great Bodhi Temple.

You can drive, stroll, or make your way to it in any way you choose. It is the pagoda in your heart. Venture into the outskirts, where the villages are moving toward harmony and prosperity.

From afar, the pagoda looks too high, but my heart has already found its place.

Pass through the mountain gate, approach the Pure Land of the East, and draw closer to the purification of the soul.

At the foot of the mountain, on the left is the Twelve Zodiac Hall, telling you about the most profound symbols of life. On the right is the Loyalty Hall. Look at Guan Yu’s sides—how did the camphor wood carvings of Zhou Cang and Guan Ping establish their life beliefs with such conviction? The Green Dragon Crescent Blade is here, holding the Spring and Autumn Annals—these are the Spring and Autumns of our lives that we can never finish reading. Between the two halls stands a precious tripod, symbolizing the protection of the nation and its people. It blesses the world with peace, and the pair of qilins placed in front of the tripod bring good wishes.

Come on, let’s head toward that pagoda.

Spring, summer, autumn, and winter—the pagoda remains in the heart. It is the simple, rustic trees of the north, carrying just a trace of soil, lifting the pagoda into your heart.

From the foot of the mountain to the top, there are two routes to reach the summit. One is a frontal route with nearly 400 cement steps leading to the tower, and the other is a winding mountain road at the back that leads to the top. The stairs are welcomed by three pairs of small towers. The carved auspicious monkeys play hide-and-seek with you. And so, you draw nearer to the Ten Thousand Buddhas Pagoda.

Each step of the stairway reflects the longing and destination of the soul. The unique lar trees of the north welcome you with their distinctive charm in every season. Every step you climb takes you closer to your spiritual aspiration. When you look back, the Great Bodhi Temple stands vividly in view, and the pagoda you yearn for is right before your eyes.

As the saying goes, saving one life is better than building a seven-story stupa. The Ten Thousand Buddhas Pagoda is hexagonal, with flying eaves and brackets on each level. The pagoda has seven stories, is 49 meters tall, and features a 5-ton copper spire that is 8 meters high. Inside the pagoda are enshrined 11,080 statues of the Medicine Buddha. Each level of the pagoda has its own plaque. First floor: Ten Thousand Buddhas Pagoda; Second floor: Ascend to Joyful Land; Third floor: Sacred Land of the East; Fourth floor: Joy in the Human Realm; Fifth floor: Buddha’s Light Shines Everywhere; Sixth floor: Reduce Inflammation and Extend Life; Seventh floor: Shine Brightly.

Upon reaching the mountain, the pagoda lies along an east-west axis against the mountain slope, with entrances on both the east and west sides. On the east side of the pagoda, from east to west, there is an incense burner adorned with patterns of the Eight Immortals’ magical weapons, reminding you of the once harsh realities and challenges of life. On the south side is the Maitreya Buddha, who even thousands of years later still greets you with a smile—how much more so did this Buddha smile back then. It is that eternally unchanging compassionate smile, laughing at all the laughable beings under heaven.
