Little Yo's Home
Yilan’s first inclusive and distinctive park — “Toucheng Sports Park Play Area” is now open! Taiwan-wide distinctive park renovations have finally reached Yilan. The newly completed “Toucheng Sports Park Play Area” features the first-ever cable car and honeycomb climbing equipment in Taiwan, along with fun play structures like rainbow climbing hills, nest swings, and a big carousel — so much to enjoy!
Address: No. 3-1, Baya Li, Toucheng Township, Yilan County (navigate to “Toucheng Sports Park”)

Date: November 24, 2018 (Saturday)
Covering an area of over 4 hectares, Toucheng Sports Park includes diverse facilities such as basketball courts, roller skating rinks, tennis courts, a track and field area, health walking paths, a swimming pool, an activity center, and a small performance plaza. It’s a great spot for locals to exercise and relax.

This time, we came especially for the newly renovated children’s play area. As soon as we stepped in, we were amazed by the bright and colorful surroundings. The new play equipment looked so fun! The climbing hill, commonly seen in northern distinctive parks, is also here at Toucheng Sports Park. But it stands out with its beautiful colors and multifunctional design! Different sides of the hill offer various interactive experiences, giving kids unique sensory play.

Yo first tried climbing up the rope slope. The not-so-high hill wasn’t difficult for older kids, but it was super fun!

After reaching the top, sliding down the pebble slide was extremely thrilling!

At the bottom of the slide is a sandpit with relatively coarse sand that’s easier to clean. Unfortunately, it had been raining the day before, so the sand was wet, and we didn’t play there.
There’s also rock climbing, artificial turf, and lots of other ways to play on the hill — it’s really interesting!
The “big carousel,” often seen in Taipei’s distinctive parks, is also at Toucheng Sports Park in Yilan. This inclusive piece of equipment allows children in wheelchairs to join in the fun with others, which is one of our favorite inclusive play structures. However, the carousel is quite large and heavy, making it hard for small kids to push alone. It’s more fun when multiple kids take turns sitting and pushing, which also encourages teamwork and kindness.
Yo struggled to push it — a good way to train those little hand muscles.
We’ve played on a honeycomb climbing frame before at LeMi Amusement Park. Seeing a similar structure in a distinctive park for the first time felt really fresh. Kids love this kind of unique equipment — it’s like their secret base where they can crawl, climb, move around, and burn off tons of energy!
Time to go exploring — Up we go! Climbing level by level like little bees is so much fun!
They’d pop their heads out to say hi to us from time to time — how adorable!
When they got tired from climbing, they rested inside the hive — it became their little hideout!
There’s also a small slide, which younger kids enjoy a lot!
This type of equipment is also a first for us in a distinctive park. In the past, our favorite was the zip line, found at the Sanying Baseball and Softball Sports Park Play Area, Ji Xian Eco Park, Sanmin Park, and Zhonghe Yuanshan Park. We never expected a distinctive park could feature a cable car!
Next to the cable car, there’s also a music wall panel and toddler interaction wall — very fun!
Hop on the cable car, lower the safety rail, and get ready to go Up!
How does it work? Haha, just pull the rope to move forward — so much fun! And Yo could pull it all by himself. It would be even more fun with a group of kids. This equipment is really impressive — we went back and forth several times, taking turns riding and pulling. A sweet kid even offered to help us pull. Ah Mu was so touched!
A park must have swings! Toucheng Sports Park has two single-seater swings and one nest swing. The number isn’t huge, but it teaches visiting kids about taking turns and waiting.
On the day we visited, there were no other kids, so lucky Yo got to enjoy the swing all by himself — he had so much fun!
Around the play area, there are also a few “shaped whispering tubes” shaped like little flowers, letting kids share secrets. But they’re quite low, suitable for smaller children. Yo had to bend over a bit, but still loved playing with them.
There’s a washing basin near the play area, so you can clean up before heading home!
We really like the environment at Toucheng Sports Park. Next to the children’s play area, there’s a bald cypress tree-lined path and a wide grassy field — perfect for walks or light exercise. There’s also a swimming pool nearby, so you can swim in the summer for even more fun.
Additionally, there’s a parking lot outside the park, and on the other side of the play area — the side with the money turtle — there’s a “public restroom,” which is very convenient.
Although the Toucheng Sports Park Play Area isn’t very large, the play equipment is quite new. Just the cable car alone had us having a blast. What’s special is that there’s a train station nearby, so while playing at the park, you’ll often see trains passing by — a real treat for transportation enthusiasts. Recommended for families with kids — bring your little ones here to burn off energy!
