The Daxing'anling May 6th Forest Fire Memorial Hall is a national AA-level tourist attraction and a patriotic education base.

The Daxing'anling "May 6" Forest Fire Memorial Hall was built to reflect on and commemorate the catastrophic forest fire that occurred in Daxing'anling on May 6, 1987. It was officially opened to the public on October 22, 1988, and was renovated and expanded in 2006. The new hall covers a land area of 2,900 square meters, with a building area of 2,518 square meters and an exhibition area of 2,260 square meters.

The first floor features five exhibition halls: "The Source of the Fire," "The City Engulfed in Flames," "Tragic Moments," "Hell on Earth," and "A City in Mourning." The second floor includes seven exhibition halls: "The Oil Depot Defense Battle," "The Decisive Battle in the Greater Khingan Mountains," "Disaster Relief Aid," "Rebuilding Homes," "Firefighting and Escape," "Modern Firefighting Techniques," and "Forest Fire Prevention Regulations." The third floor houses an "Explore Mohe" exhibition hall and a dome theater, comprehensively showcasing the entire process of the "May 6" fire—from ignition and disaster, to firefighting, disaster relief, rebuilding homes, and ecological restoration.

The memorial hall employs various display methods such as photographs, scene reconstructions, sculptures, sand tables, and dome films. It utilizes advanced domestic and international technologies including electronic projection, holographic imaging, and interactive models to vividly, systematically, and comprehensively present the full course of the "5.6" fire—from outbreak and disaster, to firefighting, relief efforts, reconstruction, and ecological restoration. In 1999, it was designated as a provincial-level youth education base by the Provincial Youth League Committee, the Cultural Relics Management Committee, and the Civil Affairs Department. In 2003, it was rated as a national AA-level tourist attraction by the National Tourism Administration.

The "5.6" catastrophic forest fire that occurred in 1987 destroyed 1.01 million hectares of forest resources, posing immense challenges to forest recovery. The reopening of the memorial hall plays a positive role in helping people deeply understand the real scenes of the "5.6" fire, learn from historical lessons, and always remember that "forest fire prevention is the top priority in forested areas." This helps strengthen public awareness of forest fire prevention, cherish existing forest resources, and protect the ecological environment.

Transportation: Within Mohe County, take bus routes 1 or 2 and get off at the 5·6 Forest Fire Memorial Hall stop on Zhonghua Road.

Self-driving Route: Starting from Daxing'anling, head due east onto S207, drive to Mohe County, then enter Yucailu Road. After driving 650 meters, turn left onto Zhonghua Road. Continue along Zhonghua Road for 150 meters to reach the 5·6 Forest Fire Memorial Hall.

Xilinji Town: Xilinji Town is located at 126°2′15″ east longitude and 53°20′19″ north latitude, situated in the central part of Mohe County. The Laocao River flows around the north side of the town from south to east. The Dalin River runs from west to east through the town, dividing it into southern and northern bridge districts. The Dalin River merges with the Laocao River in the eastern suburbs of the town, flowing together into the E'mu'er River. Xilinji Town is built on the alluvial plain of the mountain basin formed by the convergence of the Dalin and Laocao Rivers.
