Mohe Guanyin Mountain

The Mohe Guanyin Mountain Scenic Area is located at the 547-kilometer mark of the Jiagedaqi–Mohe Highway and is a popular destination for sightseeing in Mohe. The mountain features gentle slopes and elegant peaks.

At the foot of the Mohe Guanyin Mountain Scenic Area lies the famous Yan Zhi Gully, and small mountain streams flow gently downhill, symbolizing the connection of northern waters to the southern hills. The 10.8-meter-tall Northern Forest Sea Guanyin statue here faces south, while the 108-meter-tall Sea Guanyin statue in Hainan’s Nanshan faces north. The two statues gaze at each other from afar, north to south, becoming a must-visit pilgrimage site for many travelers.

The Forest Sea Guanyin statue was originally built and enshrined in the central plaza of the Nanshan Buddhist Cultural Park in Hainan in October 2000. Later, following negotiations between Mohe County and the Nanshan Tourism Company, the original Nanshan Sea Guanyin statue was relocated to Mohe. On September 22, 2006, the original statue was installed on Guanyin Mountain at China’s northernmost point. This is a triad representation of the main Guanyin form, with each statue holding different sacred objects, symbolizing various incarnations of Guanyin and reflecting the bodhisattva’s diverse methods of saving all beings.

Transportation by Bus: Take a bus from Mohe to Xilinji Town, then transfer to a minibus or taxi heading to Forest Sea Guanyin.

Self-Driving Route: Starting from Mohe County, enter S207 and drive 39.2 kilometers, make a U-turn, drive 620 meters, then enter the old S207 and drive 1.9 kilometers to reach the destination.
