Arctic Outpost

After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, border management was continuously strengthened. In June 1969, a border defense company was established on the basis of the Mohe Border Station, with border outposts set up in places such as Luoguhe, Mohe, and Xing’an.

The Arctic Outpost has a watchtower in its courtyard, consisting of seven levels. The top level is the observation tower room, equipped with a high-powered telescope used by border guards for sentry duty and surveillance. In peacetime, it became one of the first places for visitors to enjoy views of the foreign landscape.

To the east of the watchtower are the soldiers’ barracks and solar panels, which provide electricity for the entire outpost. To the west is the “Meeting Station.”
