Former Site of the Manchukuo National Labor Department

The former site of the Manchukuo National Labor Department is a cultural relic protection unit of Jilin Province.

The former site of the Manchukuo National Labor Department is located at No. 3758 Renmin Avenue, Changchun. Constructed between July 1932 and April 1941, it was the third building erected by the puppet government and is also known as the "Third Government Office." The site was newly discovered during the Third National Cultural Relics Survey in 2008 and was listed as one of the Eighth Batch of Cultural Relics Protection Units in Changchun.

Originally, the building belonged to the puppet Ministry of Finance, and was later used successively by departments such as the puppet Construction Supplies Bureau and the Architecture Bureau. In 1945, it was assigned to the Manchukuo National Labor Department. The overall structure of the building is linear, featuring a reinforced concrete frame. Architectural elements include Japanese-style flat roofs and components, as well as Chinese-style animal ornaments. The rear middle section of the building has a relatively large cafeteria and conference room. The entrance faces west. The original building had two above-ground floors, with an additional floor added after liberation; the central section originally had three floors in parts, which was further expanded by two more floors afterward. The total construction area is 5,310 square meters. In 2010, the then-occupant, Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, carried out conservation and restoration work on the site.

The former site of the Manchukuo National Labor Department, located at No. 3758 Renmin Avenue, Changchun, is one of the few remaining important official buildings from the Manchukuo period in the city. Both the building itself and its surrounding environment have been well preserved, highlighting the historical significance of the structure.
