Yunfeng Lake Tourist Resort

Yunfeng Lake Tourist Resort is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Situated 40 kilometers east of Ji’an City on the upper reaches of the Yalu River, it consists of the Yunfeng Power Plant hailed as the “Pearl of the Border River,” the Yunfeng Dam that symbolizes the bond of friendship between China and North Korea, and an artificial lake formed by the dam’s interception, situated at an altitude of 218.5 meters with an area of 102.5 square kilometers. Lush mountains stand tall on both shores of Yunfeng Lake, with bizarre rocks, ancient towering trees, and a rich diversity of tree species. The deep valleys are shrouded in mist, giving visitors the feeling of entering a fairyland or stepping into a painting. Traveling upstream, you’ll find majestic and steep mountain ridges, picturesque peaks, ever-changing mists, and breathtaking waterfalls. Boating on the lake, you can gaze into the distance at the shimmering water and endless sky, with misty waves creating a dreamlike scene. You can disembark to pick wild vegetables and mountain flowers, explore ancient trails, hike up the mountains to watch fish swimming beneath the surface, or gaze at eagles soaring overhead. Being here feels like stepping into a paradise — birds chirping on the shore, fish leaping in the water, blue skies with white clouds, and green mountains with clear waters form stunning lakeside landscapes that feast the eyes, soothe the soul, and make visitors linger in delight. It’s the perfect destination for those seeking to reconnect with nature. On the opposite bank lies the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea; boating on the lake allows you to observe the daily lives of the North Korean people and experience their unique culture. Without leaving the country, you can enjoy a taste of foreign charm — truly an ideal spot for sightseeing and leisure. Especially in recent years, with rising living standards and a boom in tourism, the Yunfeng Lake Resort, with its pristine mountains and waters, has become increasingly popular. Many visitors are eager to see Yunfeng Lake, and while touring, they gain new knowledge and feel their trip was well worth it. In addition to the dam and power plant, the Yunfeng Lake Resort features many natural and man-made attractions. These include iron towers and silver power lines, high mountain waterfalls, secluded caves, early spring views from iron bridges, and distant vistas over cloud and water. There are also architectural and bridge remnants from the Japanese puppet regime period, as well as garden-style streets. If you’re lucky enough to catch the dam releasing water, you can witness the spectacular sight of the “Jade Lake Waterfall.”
