Ji’an City Science and Technology Museum is a science education base.

Ji’an City Science and Technology Museum is a comprehensive science education base. It began operations after its establishment in 1958.

In 1963, in implementation of the national ten-year plan for scientific and technological development, the county science museum established three departments: astronomy, analytical testing, and information resources. The museum became the main base and driving force for promoting science education. In 1978, the science museum was rebuilt at a new location, with a total floor area of 1,645 square meters. It included a Youth Science Exhibition Hall, a Biology Exhibition Hall, an Astronomy Hall, science activity rooms, and a Youth Science Activity Base. In 1988, the Municipal Youth Science and Technology Activity Center was established, sharing the same organizational structure but operating under two separate titles. The science museum focused its activities on encouraging young people to learn, love, and apply science, aiming to enhance their innovation awareness and capabilities, achieving commendable results. In 2002, it was named one of the first Science Education Demonstration Bases by the Tonghua Municipal Party Committee Propaganda Department, Tonghua Municipal Education Bureau, the Science and Technology Association, and the Science and Technology Bureau. In 2004, it was recognized as a Civilized Window by the Ji’an Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government. In 2005, the science museum was designated as a Science Education Base by the Provincial Science and Technology Association.

Li Qingshan, director of the science museum, received the "Ginkgo" Award issued by ten ministries including the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the China Association for Science and Technology, and the Communist Youth League Central Committee. He was also honored as an Advanced Worker of the National Science and Technology Association System and was warmly received by Chinese leaders including Hu Jintao and others.

Ji’an Youth Science Education From 1988 to 2005, under the guidance of the science museum, a total of 104 groups, 776 youths, and 156 science counselors received awards at the provincial level or above. The science museum has exhibited over 3,500 items and receives over 4,000 visitors annually. The Astronomy Hall is a science education institution dedicated to popularizing astronomical knowledge. In 1963, the country began implementing the ten-year plan for scientific and technological development. Ji’an set up three departments in the science museum: astronomy, analytical testing, and information resources. The Astronomy Department primarily promoted knowledge about astronomy and the universe, aiming to dispel superstitious beliefs. In 1964, the Astronomy Hall opened to the public in support of the Socialist Education Movement, targeting mainly primary and secondary school students, with around 50 visitors daily. In 1965, exhibitions on astronomy, crop varieties, plant protection, and family planning were held, attracting 30,000 visitors. After the start of the Cultural Revolution in 1966, the work of the Astronomy Hall was suspended. In 1975, the promotion of astronomy and space knowledge resumed. In 1976, the work of the Astronomy Hall stopped again. In 1990, a newly built Astronomy Hall officially opened to the public, spreading knowledge about astronomy and receiving over 3,000 visitors annually. It played an important role in encouraging young people to learn, love, and apply science, as well as in promoting socialist spiritual civilization. In June 2005, Liu Shuxiu, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Congress and Chairman of the Science and Technology Association, along with her delegation, visited the science museum, exhibition hall, and astronomy hall accompanied by relevant leaders from Tonghua City and Ji’an City, giving high praise to the work of each hall.
