The Site of the Founding Assembly of the Headquarters of the First Route Army of the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army is a classic destination for red tourism.

The Site of the Founding Assembly of the Headquarters of the First Route Army of the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army is located in Wudao Valley, Fuxing Village, Yulin Town, Ji’an City, about 100 meters from Miaogou Valley Entrance. It is a relatively flat and open area within the valley, approximately 70 meters long and 25 meters wide, with a rural road running through it and three large rocks on either side of the road. The slope of the site is gentle, and at the foot of the hill lies the large rock where General Yang Jingyu once delivered speeches. The mountainside is covered with lush vegetation, and about three meters behind the rock is a small stream with crystal-clear water.

In May 1938, after the Second Route Army Political Commissar Wei Zhengmin led the Second Route Army headquarters and the Fifth Route Army’s Southern Manchuria Expeditionary Force under Yi Junshan met up with the First Route Army forces led by Yang Jingyu in Wudao Valley, Laoling Mountain Area, Ji’an (now part of Yulin Town, Ji’an City), they held the South Manchuria Provincial Committee and the First Route Army Senior Cadres Meeting from May 11 — the renowned Laoling Meeting. Following this, the Founding Assembly of the Headquarters of the First Route Army of the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army was convened. The assembly was presided over by Wei Zhengmin, Secretary of the South Manchuria Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, Deputy Commander, and Director of the Political Department. General Yang Jingyu stood on the large rock north of the road and solemnly announced to the over thousand assembled soldiers: “The Headquarters of the First Route Army of the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army is hereby established!” At this meeting, Yang Jingyu also reported to the soldiers on the international and domestic situation as well as details of the conference.

This site is an important location associated with major events and meetings in the history of the Communist Party of China.
