Yulin Town Zhi’an Village Martyrs' Cemetery

Yulin Town Zhi’an Village Martyrs' Cemetery is located on the hillside near the entrance of Xiaotianqiao Gully in Group 1, Zhi’an Village, Yulin Town, Ji’an City. Covering an area of 100 square meters, the cemetery was established by the villagers of Zhi’an Village to commemorate heroes such as Liu Jinduo, the company commander of the Rear Guard Company of the First Army of the Northeast People’s Revolutionary Army, and his wife, Jin Shunzi.

In the winter of 1935, to support the northward movement of the Anti-Japanese Allied Forces, Liu Jinduo was ordered to lead the Rear Guard Company in conducting operations in the areas of Gaodi, Shuangcha, and Yulin, serving as rear guard for the moving troops and helping to expand anti-Japanese forces.

In January 1936, as Jin Shunzi was approaching childbirth, Commander Liu Jinduo led his guard (whose name cannot be verified) to take his wife to an abandoned charcoal kiln in Xiaotianqiao Gully. He asked Wang Chunfu, a sworn brother from the local area, to help buy food. On the 27th day of the 12th lunar month, Wang Chunfu betrayed them to the enemy. Dozens of enemies arrived at Tianqiao Gully and surrounded the charcoal kiln. After an intense battle, Liu Jinduo and his guard were tragically killed due to being outnumbered. Jin Shunzi, who was pregnant at the time, also lost her life. Returning Anti-Japanese Allied Forces soldiers cremated the martyrs’ remains and buried them on-site in the charcoal kiln.

In 1971, the Revolutionary Committee of Zhi’an Village relocated the martyrs’ remains to the entrance of Tianqiao Gully to commemorate the anti-Japanese heroes, and erected a monument and tomb. In 2006, villagers donated over 40,000 yuan to renovate the cemetery site, inscribe a monument, and honor the martyrs’ spirits, promoting their legacy — “Remember history to understand honor and disgrace, and commemorate the martyrs to educate future generations.”

The cemetery serves as an important base for patriotic education in Ji’an City.
