Cowherd’s Crossing is located on the Chengcha River, where a rock spans the water like a small bridge, helping people cross. It earned its name because those who step across the Chengcha River here can proceed directly to the Weaving Maid Peak. The love story of the Cowherd and the Weaving Maid — “The Heavenly River Match” — finds physical evidence in Changbai Mountain.

The water from Heaven Lake has just flowed into the Chengcha River, smooth as a mirror and crystal clear. The river glimmers with a blue-green hue, reflecting the blue sky, white clouds, and mountain shadows. A tranquil rural charm envelops the wilderness, exuding a serene poetic vibe. From this spot alone, one would never guess at the majestic grandeur of the vast mountains — instead, it feels like a peaceful farming scene. At the narrowest part of the river, people can cross by stepping on the rocks, and the young can even jump across. At a bend in the river, there stands a massive stone monument. A giant, cow-shaped rock bears the three large characters “Cowherd’s Crossing.” Nowadays, many young couples take photos here to symbolize their enduring love. The Cowherd’s Crossing rock has become a stone of love.
