Located about two li west of Shierdaogou Village in Changbai County, along the Yalu River, stands a towering stone peak — the well-known Jiangfeng. To the north of Jiangfeng, a small stream flows close by and joins the Yalu River. As the river carries vast amounts of silt that accumulate and settle here, a small triangular islet is formed, and Jiangfeng rises from the center of this islet. As a result, the area around Jiangfeng is covered with fine yellow sand — soft and flat. Jiangfeng is just over ten meters from the riverside road to the north and about five meters from the waters of the Yalu River to the south. The water here is calm, making it an ideal spot for swimming and leisure.

Jiangfeng is approximately fifteen meters high and about twenty meters long from east to west. It is a single, uniquely shaped rock formation. Originally connected to the northern riverbank, it became separated due to the action of the river and changes in the mountain itself, leaving it standing alone in the river. The surface of Jiangfeng is brown and hard in texture. In the recessed parts of the rock, various plants and flowers grow, while the smoother areas are covered with green moss. At the peak stands a lone green pine tree, its branches twisted and spiraling toward the sky, further enhancing the majestic presence of Jiangfeng. In spring, when flowers bloom, Jiangfeng is adorned with vibrant blossoms, looking lively, graceful, and full of life. In winter, when everything is blanketed in white, Jiangfeng takes on a different kind of charm: snow accumulates in the recesses of the rock and at the peak, but you would never guess it’s snow — it looks remarkably like blooming snow lotuses. After a fresh snowfall and when the skies clear, mist drifts over the snowy river, and Jiangfeng appears like a shy maiden draped in light gauze, appearing and disappearing intermittently. Only then does it truly capture the poetic essence of “a wondrous peak above the river, revealing its grandeur only now and then.”

With her unique grace, Jiangfeng stands proudly on the Yalu River, adorning the beautiful landscape.
