Located within the Erman birch forest landscape belt of Changbai Mountain, a waterfall rushes down the cliffs and drops straight into a pool of clear green water — this is the Green Abyss Pool. The water is an enchanting green, softly glowing. This captivating green carries its refined charm, while this mesmerizing green highlights its regal beauty. The brocade-like green, set against the backdrop of highland Erman birches and massive rocks, blends seamlessly, resembling an ink-wash landscape painting. Colorful fish swim to and fro in the pool, instantly bringing it to life. Mist rises, enveloping the pool in a fine vapor. The strange rocks and birch woods are shrouded in the haze, appearing and disappearing like a scene from a fairyland. The Green Abyss Pool, with its breathtaking green hues, offers stunning views at every step, making visitors linger and forget to leave.

The Green Abyss Pool is known as the “Little Jiuzhai of the Northeast” due to its exceptionally clear and vibrant green water, reminiscent of the waters of Jiuzhaigou. It earned its name from the deep, mysterious green of its pool. On one side of the pool, a waterfall descends from the mountainside, adding to its charm with graceful scenery. The highest drop of the Green Abyss Pool waterfall reaches 26 meters, where the water splashes upon hitting the rocks before flowing into the deep pool. When mist rises, the pool is veiled in a hazy veil of fog, creating an incredibly beautiful sight. Visitors can admire the panoramic view of the waterfall and the pool from the shore or get closer to the waterfall for a more intimate experience. After the tour, walking back along the boardwalk, you’ll pass by Jade Spring and come across interestingly shaped dead trees such as “Waiting a Thousand Years” and “Really Want to Live Another 500 Years.”

The pool isn’t large, nestled among towering cliffs and surrounded by green trees, it’s immediately visible. What appears to be a stream, blocked by rocks, splits into two rushing streams that shimmer white as they cascade down from above, churning through the mountains, crashing against the rocks, sending up sprays of mist, with the thunderous sound echoing far and wide. Visitors, photographers, gather around the pool and look up at the waterfall, excited and amazed, clicking away to capture the beauty. The water is a uniquely deep green, almost like dark jade or emerald — perhaps nourished by the entire forest, resulting in this green, this azure, this depth. Hence, it has been given the most fitting name: Green Abyss Pool.

The Green Abyss Pool waterfall plunges from great heights, with the maximum drop reaching 26 meters. The water crashes onto the boulders, splashing in all directions before flowing into the deep pool. When mist rises, the pool is enshrouded in a fine mist, blending beautifully with the alpine Erman birches and ancient rocks, creating a scene akin to a fairyland on earth. A forest path leads to the Green Abyss Pool, which is located near an eco-friendly bus station and the Lanjing Express Restaurant.
