Changbai Mountain Museum

The Changbai Mountain Museum is situated in Baishan City, Jilin Province. It was built in 1986 with a total floor space of 2,642 square meters. As one of the largest and most complete natural museums in China, it was independently established by scientific researchers and technicians from the Changbai Mountain Nature Reserve Administration. The museum houses more than 3,000 animal and plant specimens, accompanied by relevant textual descriptions. Through specimens, dioramas, photographs, texts, and diagrams, it showcases the formation of Changbai Mountain, its animal and plant resources, forest ecosystems, relationships among various environmental factors, and energy cycles, providing visitors with a better understanding of forest ecosystems and the Changbai Mountain Biosphere Reserve.

The Changbai Mountain Natural Museum serves as an educational platform for the Changbai Mountain Protection Bureau. In 1999, it was approved as a prefectural-level environmental education base, and in 2001, it was listed as a provincial-level environmental education base. Every summer, numerous tour groups, experts, scholars, and students from elementary, middle, and high schools visit the museum. The annual number of visitors can reach tens of thousands, including a significant proportion of visiting and internship students as well as international tourists. Through their museum visits, they gain knowledge in biology and ecology, and develop an awareness and love for nature and its protection.
