Changbai Mountain Wild Ginseng Ecological Park

The Changbai Mountain Wild Ginseng Ecological Park scenic area is adjacent to the Changbai Mountain Nature Reserve and located within the Songjianghe National Forest Park. It was promoted to a national AAAA-level tourist attraction in 2014. The park focuses on the heritage of Changbai Mountain ginseng culture and features a distinctive eco-tourism destination centered around forest tourism, sightseeing experiences, and science education.

During its construction, the Changbai Mountain Wild Ginseng Ecological Park initially formed a scenic layout comprising “one museum, one platform, and ten gardens.” The one museum refers to the Changbai Mountain Wild Ginseng Museum; the one platform is the Changbai Mountain First View Observation Deck; the ten gardens include the Wild Ginseng Viewing Garden, Ganoderma Lucidum Viewing Garden, Gastrodia Elata Viewing Garden, Ginseng Harvesting Custom Experience Garden, Sanjiang Deer Park, Carbonized Wood and Pumice Viewing Garden, Birch Forest Viewing Garden, Windfallen Trees Viewing Garden, Amber Wood Viewing Garden, and Fishing Garden. Additionally, there are smaller natural landscapes such as the “Ginseng Affection Tree,” Ant Kingdom, and Cloud Fungus Tree.

The Changbai Mountain Wild Ginseng Ecological Park has initially developed a circular walking trail of over 2,000 meters. Two-thirds of the trail winds through secondary forests, where the park has cultivated precious medicinal herbs such as wild ginseng, ganoderma lucidum, and gastrodia elata; there are also sika deer bred within the park. The remaining one-third of the trail traverses the primeval forest along the banks of Luming River. This area is a typical representation of Changbai Mountain’s primeval forests, where tall trees are abundant, and the clear waters of the Luming River flow quietly. The U-shaped valleys formed by the river’s flow, along with the unique primitive landscapes along both banks, offer a rare glimpse of the natural scenery of the Changbai Mountain region.
