The China Theatre, affiliated with the PLA General Political Department Song and Dance Ensemble, was established in September 1984. Over the past decade, it has hosted many renowned domestic and international performing arts troupes from both military and civilian sectors, making it one of the important cultural venues in Beijing.
The China Theatre features state-of-the-art push-pull, lifting, and mechanical stages along with an orchestra pit, ensuring optimal support for artistic staging. Computer-controlled lighting systems enhance the stage’s visual brilliance, while scientifically designed acoustic and sound reinforcement systems, together with advanced audio recording equipment, deliver top-tier audiovisual experiences for high-caliber symphony concerts. The theatre lobby is adorned with magnificent chandeliers, the auditorium offers 1,500 comfortable and stylish seats, and VIP lounges—ranging from large to small—can accommodate up to 100 guests, all reflecting the theatre’s grand and luxurious ambiance.
The stage opening is 15 meters wide, 8 meters high, and 21 meters deep. The backstage dressing rooms span three floors, with a total of 10 rooms including standard, large, and specially designed ones for unique costume actors, plus additional makeup facilities in the basement, accommodating nearly a thousand performers and crew members. The theatre also houses a 200-square-meter multi-track recording studio and a high-speed duplication department producing up to 8,000 cassette tapes per day, forming a comprehensive service system for performances, recordings, and tape production.
