Shanmentoudaogou Ecological Sightseeing Area

Shanmentoudaogou Ecological Sightseeing Area is located in Shanmen Town, Tiedong District, Siping City, covering an area of 3.56 square kilometers. It is adjacent to the Shanmen Scenic Area and the Mesozoic Volcanic Geological Park. It was also the site of the Bulutuku Border Gate Post established during the Qing Dynasty. The area inside the border gate is now the Shanmentoudaogou Ecological Sightseeing Area, which once served as a hunting ground for Manchu nobility. To this day, it retains a complete set of granite millstones, bluestone grindstones, stone rollers, and well-preserved stone statues. There are three ancient wells over a hundred years old, with spring water that is cool, sweet, and rich in various mineral elements, as confirmed by laboratory tests. The area is surrounded by mountains, featuring beautiful scenery and clear waters. It is part of the Changbai Mountain range extension, and its mountain spring water belongs to the headwaters of three major rivers. The forest vegetation coverage rate reaches 80%, offering fresh and pleasant air, a healthy ecological environment, and stunning seasonal landscapes that captivate visitors. In spring, enjoy the blossoms; in summer, go for nature walks; in autumn, harvest fruits; and in winter, go skiing. It can be described as a natural ecological oxygen bar and a paradise on earth.

It provides urban residents with an excellent venue for leisure, vacation, health care, ecological sightseeing, green dining, and folk culture tourism activities. It contributes to the development of Siping’s tourism industry and promotes rapid and substantial progress for the city.

The first phase of the project has been put into use. Completed facilities include: a mountain spring water plant, an ecological sightseeing park, an agricultural organic vegetable farm, an ecological breeding farm, one artificial lake, nine varieties of green fruits available for visitors to pick, an eco-friendly green restaurant serving produce grown on the estate, a leisure resort hotel, and an open-air bonfire venue.

The second phase plans to build an open-air mountain spring swimming pool and a sand bath fitness area, a children's amusement park, a youth quality education observation center, a forest zoo, a medium-sized ski resort, an ice-skating rink, dog sled races, and the development of Manchu cultural entertainment, games, and souvenir items.

The third phase plans to construct a maze with walls featuring engraved calligraphy from famous individuals, forming a stone stele forest. There will also be hot air balloon rides for aerial tours and a sanatorium for middle-aged and elderly visitors.
