Tianfozhi Mountain is a national-level nature reserve.

The Tianfozhi Mountain Nature Reserve is situated in Longjing City, Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, Jilin Province. It is China’s first nature reserve for precious edible fungi and the only national-level one dedicated to protecting matsutake mushrooms and their ecosystem. It boasts abundant natural resources, with its main conservation target being the Pinus densiflora–Quercus mongolica forest ecosystem unique to the northern temperate forest system.

It falls within the mid-temperate humid monsoon climate zone, and the best time to visit is from August to October. The Tianfozhi Mountain National Nature Reserve has a temperate continental semi-humid monsoon climate, characterized by dry and windy springs, hot and rainy summers, cool and clear autumns, and cold, low-snow winters.

Within the Tianfozhi Mountain National Nature Reserve, there are eight species of nationally endangered protected plants, including matsutake, Korean pine, ginseng, Manchurian walnut, wild soybean, Japanese linden, Amur cork tree, and Phellodendron amurense. The reserve features beautiful scenery, sparse human population, dense water and grass, which are conducive to the habitat and reproduction of wildlife.
