Zhuanghe Fahua Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Fahua Temple is situated in the northern part of Chengshan Town, Zhuanghe City, Dalian, within the ancient city of Chengshan. According to historical records, the mountain was first developed during the Han and Tang dynasties, with a history of over 1,500 years. It was built under the guidance of an immortal by the 26th king of Goguryeo, King Yongyang, as a fortress against invaders. The city is divided into the front city and the back city, with a total length of 8,800 meters. The site includes a general’s platform, the Forbidden City, watchtowers, a flagpole, and the dressing table of Lady Gai Xiuying. Although in ruins, these structures have been restored.

Originally named Jueseng Temple, Fahua Temple was first built in the 42nd year of the Wanli era during the Ming Dynasty. Historical inscriptions indicate that the temple once consisted of multiple connected halls, featuring a robust structure. In the past, it was a place of thriving incense offerings and spiritual activity, with many recorded miraculous events. The surrounding area is dotted with uniquely shaped rocks resembling a formation of nine dragons guarding the ancient temple. The mountain was naturally formed, while the temple was divinely established. Encircled by high mountains, the sacred temple stands at its heart. From afar, the rugged peaks, serene sanctuary, surrounding mountains paying homage, magnificent Buddhist halls, towering solitary fortress, thousands of lush trees, steep and majestic rocks, wandering traces of immortals, and this heaven-made wonderland all contribute to making it a revered destination for Buddhist worship and a heavenly abode for meditation. Countless monks once resided here in peaceful seclusion, their profound tranquility inspiring awe. The founding abbot, Master Tongzhi, a distinguished disciple of Master Pu Jing, was born with innate virtue and spiritual brilliance. Even in childhood, he exhibited remarkable intelligence and supernatural abilities, abstaining from worldly food. His deep meditative practice was so profound that tigers guarded the gate and cranes soared above. He had a profound mastery of monastic discipline and religious scriptures, attaining early enlightenment of emptiness and perfect awakening. He had around a hundred disciples and achieved the golden body state of nirvana, leaving a legacy for future generations.
