Bailang Mountain Natural Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Bailang Mountain, also known as Bailu Mountain, is called "Buhutu Mountain" (Mountain of Deer) in Mongolian. It is the main peak of the Nulu'erhu Mountain Range, an extension of the Yin Mountains. Bailangdui (Bailashi Stack) refers to the summit of Bailang Mountain, named for the scree slope on its southern side. In ancient times, there were heroic legends about the White Snail Maiden and the Black Snail Maiden. It is the sister mountain of Hongluo Mountain in Lianshan and is also called Bailuo Mountain, commonly referred to as Bailang Mountain. Later, legends about the White Wolf Maiden and others emerged. During the Three Kingdoms period, Cao Cao’s army achieved a famous victory against the Wuhuan at the Battle of Bailang Mountain, where they defeated a larger force with fewer troops. Currently, a preliminary cooperation intention has been reached with Liaoning International Cooperation Co., Ltd., with hopes of establishing an international-standard leisure resort, business and leisure zone, and exhibition area. The overall promotional slogan is “Cao Cao’s Eastern Campaign Land, the Charming Bailang Mountain.”

A Famous Mountain of the Three Kingdoms — Bailang Mountain is a national AAA-level tourist attraction and a national nature reserve. It is located about 3 kilometers east of Jianchang County, Huludao City, adjacent to National Highway 306 and Provincial Road Chaoging. Covering a total area of 93 square kilometers, the main peak of Bailang Mountain, Bailang Summit (Laolongtou), stands at an elevation of 1,140.2 meters, making it the second highest peak in western Liaoning.

The Bailang Mountain Range is majestic and imposing, resembling a massive black dragon stretching from southeast to northwest across the land of western Liaoning. In the northwest, the Huaiyaozi Cave features a bottomless underground river, while on its eastern side lies a perennial spring (Yinma Spring) that never freezes. The two sister lakes, Heiluo Lake (Han Zhangzi Reservoir in Bashihan Township) and Bailuo Lake (Jiang Zhangzi Gangu Reservoir in Heishanke), sparkle with rippling waters. During the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, the three sisters — Heiluo Maiden, Bailuo Maiden, and Hongluo Maiden — ruled over Bailang Mountain and Hongluo Mountain in Lianshan respectively. They robbed the rich to aid the poor, punished evil and promoted good, safeguarding the region. Legend says that the Wuhuan Chanyu Tadun was slain by Cao Cao’s forces on Bailang Mountain, and his defeated generals buried vast treasures as they retreated, giving rise to the treasure legend “Nine Jars and Eighteen Pots, not on the shady slope but on the sunny one.” To this day, remnants of temples dedicated to the Heiluo Maiden and Bailuo Maiden can still be found on the eastern side of Bailang Mountain. As you stroll through the mountains, the blooming wildflowers, chirping birds, gurgling streams, and winding paths make you feel as if you’re in a fairyland like Penglai. Along the way, you can experience the charm of the folk culture area, the awe of industrial ruins, the wonder of stone egg landforms, the simplicity of Qingshui Manor, the solemnity of the Buddhist holy site Cisheng Temple, the reverence of the martyrs’ cemetery, the mystery of the aviation training base, the tranquility of the ecological forest, the grandeur of Bailang Summit, and the profound legacy of the Three Kingdoms culture. The elegant environment of Bailang Mountain features striking peaks and peculiar rocks, along with sea of clouds and streams that complement each other beautifully. Natural attractions include “Great Monkey Mountain, Little Monkey Mountain, caves, and a natural reclining Buddha,” among which “Cao Cao’s Command Platform, Saddle Stone, Horse Trough, Beacon Tower, Clustered Mushrooms Reaching the Sky, Orioles Feeding, Cao Cao Gazing at the Heavens, Five Hundred Arhats, Origins and Destinies, Carp Flying to the Sky, and Heavenly Soldiers’ Great Wall” are particularly famous. Ascending to Bailang Summit (Laolongtou), you can also watch the sunrise over the Bohai Sea. As the red sun bursts forth from the vast sea of clouds, it brings a sense of exhilaration. On rainy days, you can witness the breathtaking natural spectacle of lightning and thunder beneath your feet, with flashes dancing like silver snakes. On cloudy days, with layers of white clouds floating below, you may feel as if you're riding the clouds, capturing the wonderful sensation of “a celestial descending on the verdant hills.”

Since ancient times, Bailang Mountain has been a strategic military location. The sound of pine waves in the mountains resembles the galloping of thousands of troops, evoking images of the heroic spirit of the Three Kingdoms era — clashing swords and spears, Cao Cao wielding his whip, charging into battle at Bailang, leading his army to Liucheng, and arriving at Jieshi. Bizarre rocks, ancient trees, clear springs, birds, and beasts add to the beauty and vitality of Bailang Mountain. Cao Cao’s troop encampments and command posts further enhance its regal aura, while the heroic songs of anti-Japanese fighters compose its bold spirit. Mysterious stories and legends, along with captivating natural landscapes, attract visitors from all directions. In spring, cherry blossoms and willows turn green, azaleas bloom everywhere, and orioles sing among buzzing bees. In summer, clouds shroud the peaks, springs and streams murmur, and layered mountains are lush and green. In late autumn, forests are painted in vibrant hues, maple leaves glow red, and flowers of all colors flourish. In winter, snow blankets the land, frost sparkles crystal-clear, and a cool fragrance fills the air... This is a memorable forest park, geological park, aerospace base, scientific research base, Buddhist holy site, and famous mountain of the Three Kingdoms.
