Konglong Mountain Scenic Area

Konglong Mountain is located southeast of Xinglong Village, Wangbaoyingzi Township, Jianchang County. On the mountaintop east of the village, there is a huge crescent-shaped hole. On sunny days, when the sun rises slowly from the east side of Konglong Mountain, the strong sunlight shines through the hole, creating an extremely spectacular sight. Climbing to the top of Konglong Mountain, you can gaze into the distance at the rolling mountains shrouded in mist, hazy and ethereal, bathed in a rosy glow that is dazzlingly beautiful. At the foot of the mountain, two waterfalls cascade down, forming two clear pools—hence the name "Two Springs Reflecting the Moon at Konglong Mountain." In spring, when flowers are in full bloom, the white apricot blossoms covering the mountains look like a blanket of snow, perfuming the valley.

Outside the Erlong Pool at the foot of the mountain, follow a narrow mountain path eastward up the hill to witness the wonders of Konglong Mountain with your own eyes. You will marvel at the magical craftsmanship of nature. The volcanic rocks formed by crustal movements form a seamless whole from bottom to top, yet near the mountaintop, a large cave suddenly appears. Passing through the cave and looking north, you’ll see a mountain peak that resembles the helmet worn by ancient bandit chiefs—thus earning the name “King’s Mountain.” A unique natural phenomenon occurs here: whenever villagers at the foot of King’s Mountain hear a low “wooshing” sound from the mountain, it will rain within three days—remarkably accurate.

Walking southeast from the eastern entrance of Konglong Mountain along a mountain trail, you’ll find an ancient well with exceptionally clear water. Looking south, you’ll see a gap on the summit of the southern mountain, known as the “Southern Heavenly Gate,” and a gap on the northern summit, called the “Northern Heavenly Gate.” The eastern mountaintop features steep cliffs and bizarre rock formations, the most striking of which is “Stone Man Mountain.” Below the mountain is a cave containing spring water. When the sun rises, the first rays of sunlight shine directly on the cave entrance, hence it is called the “Morning Sun Cave.”
