The Mother Lake of Huludao — Liaoxi Lake (Gongshanzui Reservoir, the lake of western Liaoning, the West Lake of Liaoning) is like a dazzling "dragon pearl" inlaid in the southwest of Jianchang County. It’s not the south of the Yangtze River but resembles it, not a water town but surpasses one. It’s not like Dongting Lake in shape but echoes its spirit, not like a heavenly lake in form but captures its essence. The western shore of Liaoxi Lake features abrupt peaks and rugged rocks, while Phoenix Island boasts delightful scenery. Vertical brown cliffs stand like rows of pipa strings. The protruding boulders of Pipa Mountain resemble heavenly deities leading countless celestial soldiers to guard the area. Pipa Mountain and Clam Mountain seem like a pair of lovers gazing affectionately at each other from afar. Standing on Clam Mountain, you can overlook the entire reservoir, with distant mountains, nearby waters, and lush green forests covering the hills. Boats on the water look like tiny leaves, while solitary rocks stand tall at the cliffs of the two mountains, and red-crowned cranes nest in caves along the steep cliffs.
