Wanle Island

Wanle Island is a mystical island rich in Buddhist and Taoist atmosphere, dotted with temples and bustling with incense. It features six Buddhist and Taoist scenic sites. At the highest point of the island stands the tallest Willow Guanyin statue in China, standing 30.9 meters tall, cast in bronze, solemn and majestic, an awe-inspiring sight that is considered the finest of its kind nationwide. The stone cave cluster composed of 26 Buddha statues is equally solemn and is regarded as the best in Northeast China. Temples such as Longhua Temple and Wenchang Pavilion, with their red walls and green tiles, are nestled among lush greenery. The sounds of morning bells and evening drums, along with ethereal celestial music, create an atmosphere akin to a fairyland. Additionally, there are attractions such as the Kuixing Tower and the Five Directions Five Earths God of Wealth Temple, offering visitors endless sights and making them linger with no desire to leave.

Wanle Island is located in Huánlóng Lake within the Wunu Mountain Scenic Area of Huanren Manchu Autonomous County, 22 kilometers from downtown Huanren. It faces the Wunu Mountain, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, across the lake.

Covering an area of 225 mu (approximately 15 hectares), Wanle Island has a shoreline stretching 2,600 meters. It is a lake island surrounded by water on all sides. Viewed from above, its shape resembles the ancient Chinese character for “music” (乐), hence the name “Wanle Island” (万乐岛, meaning “Island of Myriad Joys”).

Wanle Island preserves its natural and pristine landscape to the greatest extent, boasting beautiful scenery and pleasant views. It is a tourist destination that combines natural beauty with Buddhist culture. The island is surrounded by vast, blue waters, while its interior features verdant hills, secluded paths, shaded groves, fragrant flowers, birdsong, and picturesque pavilions and towers. The landscape of lake and mountain is breathtakingly beautiful. Visitors to the island can admire the majestic and mystical Peak of the Great Man on distant Wunu Mountain and take in the panoramic view of the expansive Huánlóng Lake.
