The Beijing Haidian Public Safety Museum is situated at the northwest corner of Wanquanhe Bridge on the Northwest Fourth Ring Road in Beijing. It is located near the Summer Palace and the Old Summer Palace to the north, adjacent to the Fragrant Hills Scenic Area to the west, and close to Tsinghua University, Peking University, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The Haidian Public Safety Museum was built under the philosophy of the People's Government of Haidian District to put people first and build a harmonious society. With the goal of improving public safety awareness and self-rescue and mutual rescue capabilities, it officially opened in June 2005. In October 2008, a three-month Phase II upgrade was carried out, and the museum reopened in January 2009. It serves as a comprehensive public safety education base that maintains long-term alignment with international standards.

Covering an area of 8,100 square meters, the Haidian Public Safety Museum includes nine exhibition zones: traffic safety, public security, fire safety, earthquake disasters, workplace safety, civil air defense, water safety, health and hygiene, and legal education. It also features four theater areas: a 4D dynamic cinema, a dome theater, a phantom theater, and a revolving theater. The museum employs various high-tech display methods such as dome imaging, phantom imaging, infrared recognition, voice recognition, and VR interaction. It adopts three types of exhibits—observational, interactive, and experiential—and incorporates over 100 real-life cases. With more than 140 engaging exhibits, the museum integrates knowledge, fun, interactivity, and technology. It aims to deliver an educational experience that is “unforgettable after one visit and beneficial for life,” teaching visitors the correct escape knowledge and self-rescue and mutual rescue skills for various disasters. Notably, the newly added ITV film interactive on-demand system and facial recognition evaluation system in Phase II represent an original attempt at building a massive data processing and evaluation system for thematic education museums.
