Datashan Scenic Area

Datashan is located within Zhennxibu Town, 14 kilometers from the city center, with an elevation of 225.4 meters. This solitary peak rises abruptly from the ground, covering an area of 4.4 square kilometers. From its summit, visitors can look east to Kaiyuan City, south to Tieling City, southwest at night to Shenyang City, west to Tiefeng Tiaobingshan, and north to the Liaohe River Bay. At the foot of the mountain lies the Wanghe Reservoir. The Datashan mountain range runs from north to south; its summit features steep, rugged slopes on the southeast and west sides, dotted with bizarre rocks. The northern slope splits into four gentle ridges descending downhill, resembling an eagle soaring in the blue sky. In front of the mountain lies an open flatland, while behind it the Liaohe River encircles the foothills, with lush vegetation throughout. A poem describes it thus: “Frost, like colored powder, paints the green hills; reds, yellows, blues, and purples all shine distinct. Ascending, you forget the path back; at sunset, you’re drunk atop the peak.” Today, the Longshoushan Green Agriculture Ecological Park and a tourism resort center have been established here. The mountain was named Datashan because before the Ming Dynasty, there was a large watchtower stationed on it. Today, the ruins of the Ming Dynasty beacon tower can still be faintly seen; legend has it that during the Qing Dynasty’s Kangxi era, the eccentric Ji Xiaotang became a monk here. Temples dedicated to Ji Xiaotang and the Taoist priest Zhang Xinfang’s palace—Baoyuan Palace—were once built on the mountain, and to this day, many mythical legends are still passed down among the people.

Zhennxibu Town: Zhennxibu Town is an administrative town under the jurisdiction of Tieling County, Liaoning Province. The town is located in the northwest suburbs of Yinzhou District, Tieling City, facing the urban area across the Liaohe River to the southeast. The total administrative area of the town is 151 square kilometers, including 72,700 mu of arable land. There are 16 administrative villages with a total population of 31,000.
