Cuezhenbao Mountain Fortress

Cuezhenbao Mountain Fortress is a cultural relic protection unit of Liaoning Province.

Cuezhenbao Mountain Fortress is located north of Cuezhenbao Village, Cuezhenbao Township, Tieling County. Built approximately between 37 BC and 668 AD, it sits in an amphitheater-like valley in the central part of an east-west mountain range along the northern bank of the Fan River, and belongs to the type of basket-shaped mountain fortress. The fortress is irregularly rectangular, stretching 2 kilometers from east to west and 1.5 kilometers from north to south, with a perimeter of 5,200 meters, capable of housing at least ten thousand troops. It has two gates — one in the south and one in the north. The walls were built using a combination of earth and stone, reaching up to 6 to 7 meters in height. Currently, within the fortress, there are remains such as a water-retaining dam, a reservoir, corner platforms, and barracks.

On December 20, 1988, Cuezhenbao Mountain Fortress was designated by the People's Government of Liaoning Province as part of the fourth batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units in Liaoning.
