The western part of Beijing belongs to the eastern foothills of the Taihang Mountains, also known as the Western Hills. Mentougou is located at the junction of the mountainous region of the Western Hills and the plain, with most of its area being mountainous.

The Western Hills in Mentougou are likely situated behind the Western Hills National Forest Park. It is home to the largest forest park in the Beijing area. With abundant vegetation and fresh air, it’s a great destination for weekend getaways.
