Nanhu Island in Beijing
Nanhu Island is located in the southeast part of Kunming Lake in Beijing's Summer Palace, within the lake waters east of the Western Dyke of Kunming Lake and south of Longevity Hill, covering an area of over one hectare. The entire island is circular in shape, featuring structures such as the Dragon King Temple, Jianyuan Hall, Danhui Pavilion, Yuebo Tower, and Yunxiang Loft, all of which have been rebuilt after being destroyed. Surrounded by water on all sides, the island is encircled by a shoreline built from massive stones, and guarded by railings carved from blue-white stone, offering expansive views where visitors can take in beautiful scenery in all directions. It is the best scenic viewing spot in Kunming Lake. There are also ferries connecting the island to both the northeast and northwest corners of the lake shore.
