Folang City

Folang City is located in Xinbin Manchu Autonomous County, Fushun. The Ming people referred to it as "Jianzhou Old Camp." "Folang" is a Manchu term meaning "old mountain city," commonly known as the "Old Old City." The city was established by Nurhaci in 1587 (the 15th year of the Wanli reign in the Ming Dynasty) and consists of three layers: an outer enclosure, an outer city, and an inner city. The inner city also features wooden fences, within which were Nurhaci’s residences. The inner city housed over a hundred households, all relatives of Nurhaci. The outer city was home to the nobility of the Eight Banners, while outside the city lived more than 400 households of Eight Banner soldiers. In 1595 (the 23rd year of the Wanli reign in the Ming Dynasty), Nurhaci was granted the title of "Dragon-Tiger General" by the Ming court here. Today, ruins such as the Khan’s Palace in the old old city can still be seen.
