Ancient Imperial Road Elm Post Station Scenic Area
The Ancient Imperial Road was an important transportation route in the past used by the Later Jin to travel to Fushun City and Shengjing, and it was also the essential path taken by emperors of the Qing Dynasty during their eastern tours to worship ancestors.
The ancient elms stand tall and vigorous, each reaching 21 meters in height with a diameter at breast height of 1.6 meters and a growth history of 400 years. These trees were planted by the Muxi (now Muqi) Post Station. When Zhang Yuanqi, the Civil Affairs Commissioner of Fengtian, passed through Muqi, he wrote a poem praising the ancient elms: “Muqi is truly marvelously wooded; autumn woods along the way all inspire poetry. There’s also a rare charm of borderland beauty, with frosty skies in September revealing their extraordinary grace.”
