Wulong Mountain City

Wulong Mountain City is a cultural heritage site protected by Liaoning Province.

Wulong Mountain City is located on the "Goryeo Fortress Hill" south of Xiawaizi Village, about 1 kilometer southeast of Wulong Village, Shangjiahe Town, Xinbin Manchu Autonomous County, Liaoning Province. It lies approximately 10 kilometers southeast of Muqi Town and 5 kilometers south of the Suizi River. The site is situated against a mountain and beside water, presenting a majestic and spectacular view.

Wulong Mountain City was built along the contours of the mountain, with a roughly isosceles triangular layout. It was formed by mountain ridges that extend in an embracing manner from the high point at the southeast corner, which sits at an altitude of 438.3 meters, towards both the north and south sides, coming together at the northern gate. The northern and eastern sides of the mountain city feature cliffs dozens of meters high, the western side has a steep high point, and the southern side is a rugged and hard-to-climb slope. There are four high points on the western, northern, eastern, and southeastern sides, all serving as corner platforms or watchtowers. Outside the city is rugged terrain, while inside the city there are mostly gentle slopes or plateaus extending down from the mountain ridges. A small stream, formed by the gathering of springs and rainwater within the city, flows out through the north gate. The location chosen for the mountain city is highly strategic. The city wall is 2,107 meters in circumference and can be roughly divided into walls on the east, south, west, and north sides, with boundaries marked by four corner platforms and watchtowers situated at strategic high points. The mountain city has two gates: the north gate and the south gate.
