Heigou Mountain Fortress

Heigou Mountain Fortress is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Liaoning Province.

Heigou Mountain Fortress is located in Sidao Gully Village, Hongmiaozhi Township, Xinbin Manchu Autonomous County, Fushun City.

In 1976, the archaeological team of the Fushun Museum and the Culture Bureau of Xinbin County discovered Heigou Mountain Fortress in Hongmiaozhi Township, Xinbin County. Further surveys were conducted in 1980 and 1983. Heigou Mountain Fortress is commonly known as Mountain Fortress Ridge or Gaoli Chengzi. To its west lies a 2.5-kilometer-long mountain gully called Heigou. Xinbin County is situated in the mountainous region of eastern Liaoning, where many such mountain fortresses can be found. Locals often refer to them as Mountain Fortress or Gaoli Chengzi, leading to repeated place names. To distinguish it, we have named this fortress Heigou Mountain Fortress. Geographical Location and Natural Environment of the Fortress: Heigou Mountain Fortress is located in Sidao Gully Village, Hongfei Township (note: possible typo in source), Xinbin County, in the eastern border area of our province. It lies near the boundary between Liaoning and Jilin provinces, as well as close to the junction of Xinbin County (under Fushun City) and Huanren County (under Benxi City). At the southern foot of the fortress lies Heigou Village. It is 30 kilometers northwest of Xinbin County and about 35 kilometers south of Huanren County. Three kilometers to the east flows the Fuer River, a tributary of the Hun River, while two kilometers to the south is the Ju Liu River. The area features continuous mountain ranges, converging rivers, lush forests, and fertile land. With its naturally rich and strategically important terrain, it provided ideal conditions for ancient inhabitants to live, thrive, and defend themselves.

Protected Area: Within the fortress, along the city walls, and within 150 meters outside the outer base of the mountain rock walls.

Construction Control Zone: A secondary construction control zone extends 500 meters east, south, and west, and 300 meters north of the protected area.
