China Coal Technology Museum
The China Coal Technology Museum was established with the approval of the Ministry of Education, supported by the State Administration of Coal Mine Safety, the China National Coal Association, and several major coal enterprises. It was constructed and is managed by China University of Mining and Technology, and was completed in September 2008, covering a construction area of 18,980 square meters.
The China Coal Technology Museum centers on the themes of condensing the millennia-long history of coal mining, showcasing contemporary achievements in coal technology, highlighting the excellence of today’s coal industry professionals, and envisioning the future development of the coal sector. The museum consists of seven exhibition halls: the China University of Mining and Technology History Museum, the Natural Exhibition Hall, the Coal Technology Hall, the Mining Safety Hall, the Coal Enterprise Hall, the Art Hall, and the Underground Museum. Among these, the China University of Mining and Technology History Museum, the Natural Exhibition Hall, the Coal Enterprise Hall, and the Art Hall were officially opened on October 16, 2009. Upon completion, the museum will feature coal technology as its distinctive focus, serving to preserve history, support governance, and educate people; it will prioritize science communication while also meeting the needs of education, teaching, and scientific research. It aims to become China’s hub for the collection, exhibition, research, education, and exchange/consultation related to the development of coal technology.
