Shuangshi Pavilion at Lianyuntai

Shuangshi Pavilion at Lianyuntai is a cultural relic protection unit of Yingkou City.

Shuangshi Pavilion at Lianyuntai is located in Xifengdi Village, Lianyuntai Village, Shizi Street Town, Gaizhou City. The two stone pavilions face each other from east to west, 32 meters apart.

The eastern stone pavilion is built from east to west, facing the western stone pavilion, and is constructed from stone slabs, missing the western wall slab. The chamber formed by the eastern stone pavilion measures 1.65 meters long at the top and 1.75 meters at the bottom, 0.8 meters wide at the top and 1 meter at the bottom, with a ground height of 0.98 meters. The base stone slab is buried under gravel, causing the entire structure to sink slightly. The western stone pavilion faces 20 degrees south of east and is relatively well preserved. The paired construction of these stone pavilions is not common—does their distant opposition imply some shared origin or connection?

In 1983, Shuangshi Pavilion at Lianyuntai was designated as a county-level cultural relic protection unit. In 2012, the Yingkou Municipal People’s Government (Ying Zheng [2012] No. 173) announced it as a city-level cultural relic protection unit. The scope of protection and construction control zone designated by the Yingkou Municipal People’s Government (Ying Zheng [2013] No. 185) is as follows: with the projection lines of each individual stone pavilion as the base point, an area extending 10 meters outward in all directions is designated as the protection zone; 25 meters south, 25 meters east, 25 meters north, and 25 meters west outside the protection zone are designated as Class I construction control zones.
