Wumeifang Ruins

The Wumeifang Ruins are a cultural heritage protection unit of Yingkou City.

The Wumeifang Ruins are located on a riverside terrace to the east of Wumeifang Village, Jiuzhai Town, Gaizhou City. Also known as Dongjiashi, the site features several residential buildings built upon it. The southern part has been eroded by the river, forming a cliff, with scattered relics distributed across the site.

The ruins are roughly square-shaped, covering an area of approximately 250,000 square meters. At the southern riverside cliff, a 1.5-meter-thick cultural layer can be seen, containing artifacts such as dripping tiles, textured roof tiles, and pottery fragments. According to villagers, plowing has uncovered ash pits, fired earth, grooved bricks, pottery jars, horse mandibles, as well as wall foundations around one meter wide. The artifacts here are abundant, including fragments of Liao Dynasty white-glazed porcelain with beige clay bodies, such as rims and bowl bottoms, Ding Kiln white-glazed porcelain shards, large rolled rims from gray clay pottery during the Liao and Jin periods, gray sandy pottery handles, and gray clay animal-shaped ears. Based on these findings, this site is believed to be a city from the Liao and Jin periods, holding significant academic research value and serving as a true reflection of human activity in Gaizhou City during that time.

In 2012, the Yingkou Municipal People's Government (Ying Zheng [2012] No. 173) designated the Wumeifang Ruins as a municipal-level cultural heritage protection unit. The protection scope and construction control zones announced by the Yingkou Municipal People's Government (Ying Zheng [2013] No. 185) are as follows: with the center of the Wumeifang Ruins as the base point, an area extending 300 meters outward in all directions is defined as the protected zone; the secondary construction control zone includes areas 100 meters east, 100 meters west, 100 meters south, and 100 meters north outside the protected zone.
