Clam Hill is famed for its abundant production of clams. The clams here are known for their delicious taste and plump size, enjoying international renown and being exported to countries and regions including Japan and Europe. With the ebb and flow of the tides, these clams have thrived here for generations, densely scattered like stars and lying just beneath your feet. In addition, various other shellfish such as square clams, blue clams, white clams, blood clams, sea snails, scallops, and razor clams can also be found here, earning the area the reputation of being the “Clam Treasury of the Bohai Sea.”

The history of clam cultivation in Panjin dates back a long time. According to existing records, clams appeared on Earth almost alongside the ancestors of humans. Tao Hongjing of the Northern and Southern Dynasties documented clams in his work “Shennong’s Classic of Materia Medica.” During the Tang Dynasty, clams were even offered as tribute to the imperial court. When Emperor Qianlong tasted the clams from Clam Hill at Erjiegou, he couldn’t stop praising them, and this charismatic emperor immediately bestowed upon them the title of “The Finest Delicacy Under Heaven.” Today, anyone who has tasted the clams from Clam Hill would surely agree that this is no exaggeration.

Clams are highly nutritious. Throughout history in China, there have been no fewer than a dozen famous clam-based dishes created by master chefs. Dishes such as spring white clams, snowflake clams, ginger clam rice, and clam and yellow croaker soup are all known for their tender texture, rich flavor, vibrant colors, and delicious taste.
