The Nongken Rongxing Memorial Hall was initiated in 2006 with self-raised funds from Rongxing Farm in Rongxing Town. Located within the Weinonggou Pumping Station in Rongxing Town, the hall covers a construction area of 800 square meters and spans 30 acres. The exhibition area consists of both indoor and outdoor displays. The indoor section primarily features photographs and physical artifacts, divided into six sub-exhibition halls.

Structure and Composition

The Nongken Rongxing Memorial Hall was initiated in 2006 with self-raised funds from Rongxing Farm in Rongxing Town. Located within the Weinonggou Pumping Station in Rongxing Town, the hall covers a construction area of 800 square meters and spans 30 acres. The exhibition area consists of both indoor and outdoor displays. The indoor section primarily features photographs and physical artifacts, divided into six sub-exhibition halls, mainly introducing the century-long rice cultivation history of Panjin, the development of Panjin’s agricultural reclamation across different periods, and the figures who made significant contributions to Panjin’s reclamation efforts. The outdoor display includes the Rongxing Reclamation Monument, the Weinjiagou Water Pumping Station built in 1989, the ruins of the Gouying Railway water storage facilities, an observation pavilion, old-style residences, traditional farming tools, and daily life utensils.

Exhibition System

The exhibition system provides a comprehensive overview of the century-long agricultural reclamation journey of Panjin. It mainly introduces the historical conditions and social environment at the time when formal reclamation in Panjin began. The century-long rice cultivation in Panjin commenced under such historical and social circumstances. Across its 4,071 square kilometers of sedimentary plain—characterized by flat terrain, crisscrossing rivers of various sizes, abundant resources, a uniquely charming ecological environment, and distinct four seasons—these factors have endowed Panjin with boundless vitality. Throughout Panjin’s century-long journey to cultivate rice, Rongxing was the first to develop large-scale paddy fields, establish a systematic irrigation and drainage system, use tractors for rice farming, build a large rice milling plant, construct standardized rice paddies on a large scale, and engage in crab farming in paddy fields. It was also among the first groups of state-owned farms established in Panjin. Through the relentless hard work of generations of Rongxing residents, the area has now developed into a comprehensive agricultural production system based on rice cultivation, guided by aquaculture, and supported by other forms of production. The reclamation journey of Rongxing stands as a typical microcosm of Panjin’s century-long rice cultivation and is worthy of eternal remembrance. Today, leveraging the favorable opportunity of the Liaobin Economic Zone being elevated to a national strategy, Rongxing is composing a new chapter of rapid development in harmony with the main theme of reform and opening up. The Liao River provided abundant water resources for Panjin’s century-long rice cultivation, although historically, Panjin has been an area frequently plagued by natural disasters and wars.
