The F&B market this year has been bustling, with many new Japanese ramen shops, Korean BBQ joints, and burger specialty stores opening. Another highlight has been themed restaurants. Starting with Totoro, one themed restaurant after another has launched, including Snoopy Café, HELLO KITTY hot pot, and Rilakkuma Café. Their cute appearances have healed fans everywhere—see if there’s a themed restaurant you like?

Charlie Brown Café

Taiwan’s first Charlie Brown Café officially opened in Kaohsiung in April this year, attracting many fans to make pilgrimages. A second branch has been decided to open at Big City in Hsinchu, with its official opening on October 13.

Charlie Brown Café is located in the Hanshin Dome shopping district in Kaohsiung. Its décor and furnishings feature the popular characters everywhere. The exterior bus and doghouse, in-store collectibles and large cartoon signs are three must-see highlights, while the four themed meals, Charlie Brown character coffee and cakes, as well as the customized birthday cake series, are three must-try food items. The Hsinchu store adopts a sporty style, with a large Charlie Brown mascot and Snoopy doghouse at the entrance to welcome guests.

Toshidama Themed Restaurant
Ugly they may be, but Toshidama still has plenty of fans. The Toshidama Secret Garden Light Meal Café, a themed restaurant, was fully booked for two months before opening and became extremely popular. Its second branch also opened in September. Different from the forest-style first branch, the second branch has a pastoral style, and the menu has been completely redesigned.

The first branch, Toshidama Secret Garden Light Meal Café, adopts a semi-self-service dining style, with no service charge and a minimum spend of NT$200. Dining time is limited to two hours. Menu items include fries, chicken nuggets as appetizers, as well as pasta, sandwiches, pizza, and pancakes. The most unique offering is the head-shaped rice dishes series, with rice shaped like little flower heads, grandma heads, and the three mushroom brothers—integrating Toshidama into the meals.

The second branch, Toshidama Secret Room, distinguishes itself from the first with an interior design in a pastoral style, featuring melon vines and fruit stalls. The food menu is also entirely new, incorporating fruits and vegetables into the dishes. Store manager Mia said the chef designed about 100 dishes, and after tasting by the second branch staff, 25 dishes were ultimately selected. These include brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, and dishes filling enough for dinner—completely different from the first branch.

Miffy Rabbit Themed Café
Located in New Taipei’s Zhonghe Globe Department Store, the Miffy rabbit themed café “miffy×2% café” officially opened in June. A cute Miffy mascot greets guests at the entrance, and the café is filled with Miffy imagery—from walls and tables to cups and even napkins. miffy×2% café offers a wide variety of food and drinks including coffee series, herbal teas, blended tea series, ice cream fruit parfaits, fresh juices, and slushies. The ice cream fruit parfait series is particularly unique, combining ice cream, fruits, and crispy elements for a layered taste experience.

Kumamon Themed Café
The Japanese Kyushu mascot Kumamon (KUMAMON) has become a hit in Taiwan, leading to the opening of the themed café “KUMA CAFÉ.” Located on the second floor of the Kumamoto Tonkotsu Ramen shop, though small in size, the café is packed with Kumamon presence and divided into a merchandise section and a seating area.

HELLO KITTY Hotpot Restaurant
The long-awaited HELLO KITTY Hotpot Restaurant began trial operations on July 7. As you enter, you’ll be greeted by a HELLO KITTY figure holding a hotpot at the door. Inside, KITTY-themed elements are everywhere, especially on the tableware, which is so cute it’s hard to put down. There’s also a large private room featuring an enormous HELLO KITTY wall. The KITTY here wears a camellia on her head—a design specially created by Sanrio Taiwan for the world’s first HELLO KITTY Japanese-style hotpot restaurant. The motif appears in many corners of the venue.

Rilakkuma Themed Restaurant Rilakkuma Café
After a one-month trial operation, Rilakkuma Café officially opened on October 2. Following the opening, all seats are available for online reservations only—phone bookings will no longer be accepted. However, walk-ins are welcome as standby options, though be prepared for potential long waits.

The interior decor and furnishings of Rilakkuma Café feature the beloved character everywhere you look—from the large Rilakkuma plush near the entrance, to the wall entirely covered in Rilakkuma plush toys, Rilakkuma-patterned tabletops, various sizes of Rilakkuma cushions on chairs, Rilakkuma plates, walls painted with Rilakkuma designs, and an array of Rilakkuma-themed ornaments, creating an incredibly soothing atmosphere.
As for Rilakkuma-shaped menu items, the dessert counter offers adorable Rilakkuma creations such as the Rilakkuma fresh milk cheesecake, Milk Bear strawberry cheesecake, and colorful Rilakkuma-style puddings. For main courses, Rilakkuma-shaped options include the Rilakkuma pork cutlet curry rice, Rilakkuma white sauce chicken rice, and Rilakkuma pancakes.
