Doughnuts are a type of sweet treat that almost everyone has tried. Taiwan even experienced a doughnut craze not too long ago. Compared to the modern, creatively shaped varieties, the classic version — crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and coated in powdered sugar — offers a nostalgic charm all its own.

The crunchy fresh milk doughnut shop near Taipei Railway Station is a branch of Qingguang Market, offering more than ten flavors such as red bean buns, pickled vegetables, and chocolate. The most popular signature item remains the simple yet classic crunchy fresh milk doughnut. It's common to see customers walking out with big bags of them to go. Other flavors depend on luck and availability.

▲ The crunchy doughnuts, coated in fine sugar powder, have a crispy exterior and soft interior.

Each crunchy fresh milk doughnut costs NT$20. Its golden, fried crust, coated in batter, is delightfully crisp and crunches satisfyingly with each bite. Inside, the warm, tender texture has just the right amount of chewiness, making it rich and fulfilling. The balance between the crispy crust and soft center is enhanced with a hint of granulated sugar, creating a playful interplay of textures. Beyond being sweet, you can also detect a subtle milky aroma.

▲ In addition to the signature crunchy doughnuts, you might occasionally find savory flavors like pickled vegetables or curry.

Though it’s just a small, affordable snack, it’s definitely not something to rush through: don’t let the packaging bag dull the flavor — take a bite while it’s still hot to enjoy the burst of steaming aroma, then slowly savor the contrast between the crispy shell and soft interior. After finishing, lick the lingering sugar powder off your hands and around your mouth. It may be a small treat, but it brings great satisfaction.
