Man Kee Wonton Noodle Shop sells over a thousand bowls a day — makes its first appearance in the Michelin Guide’s Hong Kong street food selection

The Michelin Guide Hong Kong Macau 2018 was released today (11/30). This edition includes a total of 227 restaurants in Hong Kong and 65 in Macau, among which are 21 street food vendors. Three of these street food spots are making their first appearance on the list: Fork Eat, I Love You Dessert Bar, and the always crowded Sham Shui Po’s Man Kee Wonton Noodle Shop.

The flagship store of Man Kee Wonton Noodle Shop is located in Sham Shui Po, and there are two other branches. It is very popular with locals, and the three stores together sell over a thousand bowls of wonton noodles a day. Wonton noodles are a distinctive local dish in Hong Kong. Originally, they were sold from modified pushcarts, which is why they are called “wonton noodles” (literally “cart noodles”). The biggest highlight is that customers can choose their preferred noodles, broth, and toppings. Common toppings include beef balls, squid balls, pork balls, pig skin, pig intestines, fish balls, beef brisket, squid, siu mai, dumplings, radish, mushrooms, and wontons.
