Save up to $1450 on group tours as Vietnam slashes short-term visa fees

According to Vietnamese government statistics, approximately 5.7 million people visited Vietnam in 2015, a 5.9% decrease from the same period last year. To boost tourism, local authorities will reduce fees for both single-entry and three-month visas, with the new rates set to take effect on November 23.

As announced by the Vietnamese Ministry of Finance, starting November 23, the fee for a one-month single-entry visa will be reduced from $45 to $25 (approximately NT$810), while the fee for a three-month multiple-entry visa will drop from $95 to $50 (approximately NT$1615).

In addition, except for visas valid for more than three months up to six months and those over six months up to one year—whose fees remain at $95 and $135 respectively—the Vietnamese government has introduced a new rule. All applications for entry visas valid for one to two years, two to three years, three to four years, or four to five years will incur a fee of $155.

The Vietnamese government has also stipulated that the cost of transferring an existing valid entry visa and temporary residence permit from an old passport to a new one will be reduced from the current $25 to $5. However, the fee for issuing a temporary residence permit valid for one to two years will increase from $100 to $145, and the fee for permits valid for two to five years will rise from $120 to $155.
