Autumn in the North Cross-Isis Brings a Fresh Look to Plants — Six Beautiful Spots in Taoyuan for Red Leaf Viewing

As autumn arrives, the red leaf plants along the Northern Cross-Isis Highway also don their new attire. There are six key spots in Taoyuan City for red leaf viewing, with the optimal period expected to be from November to mid-December.

Yang Shengping, Director of Taoyuan City Tourism Bureau, said that the North Cross-Isis has a rich variety of red leaf plants, with foliage colors spanning from red, orange-red, orange, orange-yellow to yellow, giving the mountains a range of gradient colors. Aside from red leaf viewing, the beech trees in the North Cross-Isis will turn completely red around early November. Since they are located in state-owned forest districts and nature reserves, access requires environmental education or research purposes, and visitors need to apply to the Forestry Bureau for entry.

Regarding the opening of the much-anticipated Lalashan Sacred Tree area, the Hsinchu Forest District Office of the Forestry Bureau announced that it will remain closed until the end of October as previously stated. Provided there are no force majeure events causing damage to forest roads or trails, it will reopen to visitors on November 1st for viewing Sacred Trees No. 1 to 4.

Due to ongoing box culvert installation work on the Lalashan Forest Road, starting November 1st, one side of the construction section will be open to traffic, accompanied by traffic control measures to ensure visitor safety.
