Adorable chaos alert！Hong Kong’s Gudetama-themed restaurant features steamed custard buns that “vomit and have diarrhea”

Hong Kong’s latest Gudetama-themed restaurant, “Sofutan Café,” has been all the rage recently. In Hong Kong, Gudetama is known as “Sofutan,” which means carefree and cozy. With his perpetually lazy and exhausted expression, he has long attracted flocks of fans. This time, the café has rolled out several new dishes, especially a range of dim sum with distinct regional styles, delivering both visual impact and humorous creativity that’s guaranteed to make you laugh out loud！

“Sofutan Café” is located inside The ONE mall in Tsim Sha Tsui. Though the space isn’t large, the semi-open restaurant design creates an inviting atmosphere. Opened just in August, it has already drawn many fans eager to visit. The menu mainly features Hong Kong-style dim sum, including steamed custard buns, shrimp dumplings, egg tarts, and barbecue pork buns, all with distinctive flavors. Among them, the original-flavor steamed custard buns and the “Chocolate Custard Buns,” launched in mid-October, are the most popular.

Made using the same method as traditional custard buns, but with the dough dyed yellow and topped with Gudetama’s lazy face, and a layer of flour beneath resembling a protein blanket. Each serving comes with three custard buns. Fans looking to play pranks on Gudetama can poke a hole in his mouth with chopsticks, gently squeeze, and watch the filling ooze out—Gudetama’s indifferent vomiting expression is hilarious. The café also came up with a new creative twist: the “Chocolate Custard Bun” shows Gudetama lying on his stomach, with a hole poked in his back from which a torrent of chocolate pours out, creating an unforgettable visual.
