The Tourism Bureau offers a NT$1,000 domestic travel accommodation subsidy, combinable with additional travel fair discounts

To achieve the goals of expanding domestic demand and stimulating the economy, the Executive Yuan announced on October 30 the “Short-Term Consumption Stimulus Measures,” including a domestic travel subsidy initiative by the Tourism Bureau. However, some accommodation businesses pointed out that due to the delayed implementation, they were unable to coordinate with the “2015 Taipei International Travel Fair.” The Tourism Bureau stated:Consumers purchasing accommodation vouchers at the travel fair can combine them with the current subsidy benefits, and businesses can continue with their planned promotional campaigns during the fair without any impact.

The Tourism Bureau explained that the plan was not publicly disclosed in advance primarily to avoid influencing consumer expectations, which could affect original spending behavior and the normal revenue of accommodation providers. Starting November 20, the public can log on to the “Taiwan Accommodation Network” to apply for discount electronic codes. Each code allows a discount of up to 30% off the actual accommodation price per booking, with a maximum subsidy cap of NT$1,000. However, each ID number can only be used once,with a total of 115,000 electronic codes available for application.

To align with the expanded consumption efforts of discounted accommodation products at the “2015 Taipei International Travel Fair,” consumers using accommodation vouchers purchased at the fair can combine them with the “Subsidy Plan for Domestic Travelers’ Accommodation and Park Visits” during the subsidy period when staying at participating accommodations.Details regarding the subsidy process will be announced as soon as possible after discussions with industry stakeholders on the 2nd.
