Breathtaking night views and romantic churches – Hsinchu’s super-popular scenic restaurant

On our way back from Taoyuan to Tainan, we spontaneously decided to visit this long-famous summer triangular scenic restaurant in Hsinchu. Since we were already up north, we figured we might as well check out some sights before heading home. This summer triangular scenic restaurant in Hukou, Hsinchu, is set up on a large grassy area with an incredible view. The owners have arranged several romantic setups, decked out with dazzling lights, paired with the breathtaking night view of Hsinchu at the foot of the mountain. It’s no wonder the atmosphere here attracts so many visitors. Although our overall impression was mixed, if you’re simply looking to enjoy a romantic view—or want a nice spot for Valentine’s Day or a birthday dinner with your partner—this place is still a pretty good choice. The Summer Triangular Scenic Restaurant is located in Hukou, Hsinchu. We exited at the Yangmei Interchange on National Freeway 1 and drove for about 15–20 minutes to arrive. The final stretch is a mountain road with very few streetlights, so please drive carefully.

There’s a toll booth right at the entrance to the park where you need to purchase an admission ticket for $100 NTD per person. The ticket can be fully used as credit toward your food and drink bill. This policy is likely in place because they want to discourage people from coming in just to take photos without spending. Also, since there’s still some distance from the toll booth to the parking lot, we suggest the management improve the signage along the route—especially at night when visibility is poor, it can be confusing trying to figure out where to go. During holidays when it’s crowded, things can get a bit chaotic.

After carefully driving to the parking lot, you’ll see the brightly lit and dazzling Summer Triangular Scenic Restaurant in the distance—it really gives you a pleasant surprise. It’s very pretty. We visited on a weekday right after work and didn’t have to wait in line, but the later it gets, the more crowded it becomes～

There are both indoor and outdoor dining areas. We didn’t want our food to be too dark for photos, and personally, I prefer not to eat outdoors (too many bugs), so we asked the staff to arrange an indoor table for us. However, since the restaurant uses mostly fabric-upholstered chairs and sofas, we’d suggest the management pay more attention to cushion cleanliness. That day, we noticed quite a few cushions had stains from spilled drinks. I know this type of material is inherently hard to clean, but… as first-time visitors, it just felt a bit off-putting at first glance.

Let’s share a few pages of the menu for reference. They offer international cuisine, wood-fired pizza, fried snacks, light meals, pancakes and desserts, as well as a variety of coffee drinks, juices, and smoothies. For main meals, prices are around $400–$500 NTD, which is mid-to-high range.

That day, we ordered the Southeast Asian Potato & Tender Chicken Curry Rice ($380), Hawaiian Seafood Pizza ($380), and Caramel Latte ($180). When settling the bill, remember to present your admission ticket for the discount. No additional service charge was applied.

As for the taste of the two main dishes... all I can say is, it’s really hard to put into words. Anyway, don’t expect too much—just go with whatever looks appealing to you.

After eating, we went outside to take some photos. The various colored lights create a romantic ambiance, and when we first arrived, the sky still had some beautiful hues, making the scenery incredibly lovely and romantic. No wonder it was said to be in such high demand when it first opened. The only downside is that there’s a high-voltage tower and power lines right in front, which are hard to avoid in photos—but it’s still quite pretty overall～

However, we also need to remind everyone that Hsinchu is very windy, and since this place is at a higher elevation, the wind feels even stronger. If you plan to dine outdoors, you’ll need to think it through carefully—or decide based on the conditions of the day.

Overall, our impression of this Summer Triangular Scenic Restaurant in Hukou, Hsinchu, is mixed. If you enjoy taking photos and love a romantic atmosphere, this is a great choice. The service staff were also very friendly, which helped ease the impact of the drawbacks. Aside from the two main dishes not quite suiting our tastes, the relatively high prices also lowered the cost-performance ratio. Perhaps ordering some fried snacks or light meals would be a better option. In summary, it’s a Hsinchu scenic restaurant with a stunning night view and great photo opportunities, but there’s definitely still plenty of room for improvement. Sharing it with you all～
