New Taipei City’s Happy Christmas Town Kicks Off on the 20th – 9 Adorable Bear Merchandise Items Released Early

The 2015 New Taipei City Happy Christmas Town opens on the 20th this year. In addition to collaborating with Australia’s top light art team to create an international-grade 360-degree 3D light projection show, it has also teamed up with rising illustrator “King Cat Not Amusing,” winner of Singapore’s Freshmusic Awards for Best Album Design, to reimaginethe soulful protagonists of New Taipei Christmas Town —“Santa Bear” and the “Cube Head Bear Family”. Moreover,the New Taipei City Government has specially created 9 adorable lifestyle bear merchandise items, which will go on sale for the first time on the opening night.

The New Taipei City Government explained that the rising illustrator “King Cat Not Amusing” mentioned that the design inspiration for the “Cube Head Bear” came from the concept of Santa Claus riding a reindeer-drawn sleigh, often sliding down (cube-shaped) chimneys to deliver Christmas gifts to sleeping children, thus creating the highly healing and lovable cube head bear.

To satisfy bear fans,the New Taipei City Government has specially introduced 9 lifestyle bear family merchandise items that are both adorable and practical,including scarves, mugs, washi tape, magnets, potted plants, and more, all featuring super-cute designs. These exclusive merchandise itemswill go on sale for the first time at 7:30 PM on the opening night, November 20, at the European-style wooden Christmas cottages — “Happy Market” and “Dream Market.”.

Additionally, the New Taipei City Government Tourism and Travel Bureau stated that during the limited period from November 20 to December 30, participants can join the New Taipei Traveler fan page's like-and-check-in activity for a chance to win a limited-edition run of 300 Cube Head Bears in a lucky draw.
